More about the Board and Elections Process:
The Vera Society board has five directors who are all committed to the organization's mission to promote native plantlife in our communities. Of these directors, two are elected by the membership. Based on the election cycle, one of these board seats is open for election in 2025.
A Nominating Committee, as chosen by the Board Chair, selected this candidate for re-election to the Vera Board based upon his past contributions to the organization and continued dedication to its mission.
Notice of right to petition:
Per the Vera Society Bylaws, candidates for member elected seats on the board may also be nominated by petition, in writing, signed by at least 10% of the membership as of the date of submission of the petition, with a minimum of 20 and a maximum of 2,000. Petitions must be signed in physical form, and cannot be digital signatures, clicks, or electronic submissions; provided, however, that petitions may be scanned and submitted in PDF or similar format if the original signatures are retained by the petitioner for at least 11 months after their submission.
Members entitled to sign petitions, such as to request a Special Meeting or nominate a candidate for the Board of Directors, must have been a member for at least one (1) year prior to their signing of such petition, and must still be members of the Corporation as of the submission of such petition.
